Cars In The Park, Lichfield, 2010

#1 Post by Spunkymonkey »

Having had a whale of a time at this one last year, thought I'd get more notice up this time. Just had an email through that the 2010 event will be held on 3rd and 4th July, more details to follow.

Last year there was very cheap (£5 per pitch per night) camping available onsite from the Friday through the weekend, lots of cars and a fair bit of autojumble. Can't remember the entry fee for exhibitors but it was something silly like £3 for the weekend. Until they get their new site up for 2010, a few pics of last years are available here.

Who is Steve? Spunky?

I'm not trying to steal the show (pun intended) but if it is designated as THE Midlands event for next year then more may make the effort to attend...

No, not Steve - I'm Spartacus

The DOC should be booking a club area and turning up with their rubber-band efforts so Sheila may get honourary Dafhood again this year. That said, if the TDC decided to ask for a club area as well then I don't see why we shouldn't ask for them to be next door to each other and I can just park on the ropes. That way the Dafs might not suffer the snide comments from some of our neighbours last year

Just ignore me, I was having a blonde moment and making reference to NDD and Steve W.

The site for CITP 2010 is now live at http://www.carsinthepark.com/index.html complete with a fetching photo of Sheila in the Owner's Cars section

The entry fee for exhibitors this year is £0.00 (no, that's not a misprint!) and no need to pre-register but clubs are invited to pre-book a club area if they want their cars kept together. They've also stopped any events in the ring and won't allow exhibitor entry after 11AM for safety grounds (less marshals needed if the cars aren't moving).

They haven't mentioned camping on the park yet so I've emailed to see if it's available and will let y'all know as soon as I hear back.

Edit: They've just confirmed that camping will be available from the Friday lunchtime - details will be added to the site soon.

I could fancy coming South for this if it doesn't clash with any of my next year events.
Could I please be parked next to this:

Don't see why not, but be careful. The tinworms in that one may be hungry with so little left to eat and I'm not sure how far they can jump

Camping price is now confirmed at £10 for the weekend. So that's £10 + fuel + spends for a weekend break - you know it makes sense!

Camping can now be booked on the CITP site. No payment needed yet but they have 60 pitches available and the DOC seems to be grabbing them quite fast, so if anyone is going and wants a pitch it might be worth getting your name down :)

Seeing as it looks like there are already going to be 2 1300s invading the DAF stand what are peoples thoughts on a joint effort between the two clubs for a large stand. May be a lot easier than getting to stands side by side.

If the TDC are taking an area it shouldn't be any problem getting side-by-sides, Paul. If a TDC area is confirmed then I'll give the organisers a shout and ask if they can put the two close - they've got more than enough time to do it!

Mixing in the same area would make it a little (???) confusing for Joe Public - even having Sheila as one Honourary Daf last year took a fair bit of explaining over the weekend! (Jill Public, on the other hand, probably wouldn't notice as long as the colours matched 8) )
