A few of us from Lucindale met for the convoy across. Two BSA bikes and a vanguard spacemaster. The bikes are unreal and despite regular stops to fix all manner of bike things (lead fell off coil, ammeter fell out of headlight, spark plug simply stopped firing) it was a great drive on a glorious late autumn day.

at padthaway. Padthaway is a large grape growing area, north of coonawarra and a fair bit larger. This is the Padthaway football oval, about two soccer pitches in length and a soccer pitch wide. I had a long discussion with the stag owner, convincing him paint code 94 was not mimosa yellow !

about 50 cars turned up.

This is the classic Australian muscle car, an older model monaro. Going rate for this beast is $80k
After lunch at the local football club and some more car inspections, the bikes took off and I caught up with them south of Padthaway.

the trip home was fantastic. We went cross country down some gravel roads, bikes in the lead, me watching to avoid stone chips, vanguard bringing up the tail. 3 BSAs making a racket, cruising along at a leisurely 90km/hr. Hard to resist the temptation for some rally cross action but I held back (mostly). This is sheep dip corner, a notorious back spot where we rejoined the bitumen and fixed yet another bike defect.
Glorious day.
