Triumph 1300 TC

#1 Post by oskar TC »

:?:

Are there any parts common between dolomite and 1300 fwd, particularly the lower wishbone arm and surrounding parts?

Is it possible to exchange the front suspension mounting bracket on 1300 fwd for corresponding dolomite part?

Best regards Oskar

Hope somebody can help me...

interchangeability

there is some similarities and interchangeability but I know the front brackets are different. As for wishbones, etc, I'm not sure. I would stick to the 1300 parts. I'm sure someone over here can help if you are stuck. is it bent / corroded?

As far as I'm aware the wishbones and most other parts of the fron suspension are the same on both cars. I'm in a position to check part numbers at present! The little triangular plates that clamp the top ball joint in place is the other way round on the FWD cars which necessitates the different top BJ - the body is straight rather than angled as on the Dolomite. Springs and shocks therefore are longer I assume on later cars.

Actually that's a point - is the top BJ on a 1500 FWD a Dolomite one? Can't remember

The 1500 fwd is the same as the rwd & dolly range. However, i noted the 1300 front suspensio upright bracket (the one which bolts to the subframe) is made differently. I wondered if the geometry angles are the same. I suspect the suspention (wishbone) arms maybe the same but would be worth checking. I assumed, rightly or wrongly that the change in top joint accocmodated the change in the mounting and position of the shock top mounting, to encompass an geometry change?
