Hi all.
After being unhappy with too much play in the column. The lower bush i believe that is held by the 4 bolt cover needs replacing. I am going to a superflex type. Is there any trick/easy way of changing this?
Hope someone can help?

Andy
Sprint steering column bush change
Yes Andy.........
This job is easier than it appears, but the services of an assistant help considerably.
This is the procedure for 1500HL and all 1850s and Sprints:
1. Under the bonnet,
remove bolt/nut from upper steering coupling and remove the nyloc nut from the lower
steering joint's upper bolt. (Spanner size is 1/2"AF)
IMPORTANT, please make sure the wheels are in the straight ahead position.
2. Inside the car,
pull up the steering column shaft to clear the bulkhead.
3. Remove old bush and fit new (should push easily).
4. Apply Superflex grease (or copper grease) to the bush
5.Whilst you hold the upper steering joint, have your assistant push the column shaft through the bulkhead bush
(using a piece of wood against the large washer at the bottom of the shaft). Please ensure steering wheel is still
in the straight ahead position.
6. Refit the bolt and NEW nyloc nuts (5/16"UNF) to the steering couplings.
Removing the air filter box on a Sprint will improve access.
Hope this is clear,

To try and show support for the forum, when I use any tech advice I'd thought I'd message - thinking it shows footfall on the forum and appreciation to the original poster.
So, thanks! Just used process detailed above to put in a new bush. Thanks!
