Codename MOO

#1 Post by Calorian »

Hey guys,

I realised that I never actually posted the simple restoration diary for my project on here, heres the link.

http://www.silmarino.f9.co.uk/gjhome/moo/index.html

The project has been put on hold until I am home from uni again in the summer when work will commence and possibly, if all goes to plan get the car back on the road either the same as she came off the road as standard or possibly with a few little modifications.. :)

Cheers
JPB

 Well done for being the first person to reshell a 1500 into a Sprint body!
Equal rights for non-Sprint cars at last!

It's good that you didn't persevere with the use of GRP in the orange shell though. It's fine for the non-structural areas of a car or when used as complete panels designed to take the same load as steel originals - such as the white one's new nose - but using the stuff to rebuild that rear inner arch and boot floor area was never going to be the way forward.

Brilliant stuff, I take it you also retained the wiring loom from the orange car to fit to the white shell? That would save loads of hassle.

1850 into Sprint but yeah :)

It was a last ditch attempt that I knew wasn't going the distance :)

That I did. Didnt cut into it or anything so it was a nice little drop in jobby :)

Thanks, Will definitely do that. As I say, its on a break whilst I'm at uni but works will commence again for a period over Easter and then properly over summer.

Ah right, I had assumed - often fatal, should know better - that one of the shells was from a 1500 since you mentioned changing the positions of the coolant tank and the battery, both of which live in the same places on 1850s as they do on Sprints. Could this mean that your Sprint donor car was at some time a 1500 as only the OHV cars had the bottle on the right?

Yeah, I probably should get out more.

**Edited as a result of reading your words properly:

When you said "moved battery and expansion tank over......." Yes, there's the source of that assumption, you meant over from one shell to another didn't you? I should have seen the picture of an 1850 engine sitting in a subframe. Dumbass me, sorry.
