Move the spring plate to the angle shown. You can now see the points.

Remove the 2 wires and the 2 fixing screws. Yes, one of mine has had to be replaced in the past.
Yes, the operating heel on the points does seem to wear.

Smidge of grease on the cam will cut down on the wear.
