Stoneleigh show: car requests

#1 Post by Nathan Mwk 627G »

Right chaps,

Stoneleigh 2013 is around the corner and as of the last 6 years myself and Bruce along with the Coventry group are going to be putting this show together.

Not having a theme as such but we are looking for Sprints to mark the 40th.

So we are looking for 5 cars in total and 2 reserves.....

we need 3 bright coloured Sprints, don't have to be concourse but respectable, ideally would like one to be as original as possible,

The other 2, we have already been offered a 1500hl subject to MOT so would be nice to have a Toledo & 1300/1500fwd just to break up the cars a little bit, again we could do with these to be bright colours....

Why bright cars i hear you ask....well Stoneleigh want to charge £150 for a plug socket which is stupid money, the NEC charge £180 but that's over 3 days so its justifiable, £150 for 1 day is mad..........but....

:jump4joy: The 2013 show is back in the main halls!! :jump4joy: which will be a lot warmer and dryer than previous years!!

So over to you guys, please either drop me a PM or call me, details in Club mag!!

We had a great stand in 2012 which was noted by a lot of people and other clubs, and a lot of it was down to the cars which you guys offered, and if the 2012 guys want to offer again then that's fine......

so, 3 bright coloured Sprints, 1 Toledo and 1300/1500fwd............ :poke:

Thanks in advance

Nathan & co :bluewave:

My Toledo is nice and shiny in its brand new Carmine coat and I'm coming to Stoneleigh anyway, but how do you feel about "modified" cars?

SORRY BUT

Why is always we must have sprints, lesser models lose out again. Why can't you have one or two of the bright cars lesser models?

Every show we seem to do seems to concentrate on Sprints  There are other Dolomites.

Excuse me Darren, I for one am a huge supporter of the lesser cars, I don't even own a Sprint and not on the market for one!! If you would care to look through the photos of previous events I have organised you will see a selection of cars just not Sprints, in fact last years event at stoneleigh we had 5 cars, a 1500fwd, the oldest known 1300dolly, oldest known 1850 another early 1850 and only 1 Sprint, we also had a 1300fwd booked but had to pull out!! I always try and get the point over that there is other Dolomites and its just about the sprint BUT you have to except that generally the public want to see a Sprint! This year we have decided to have 3 sprints because its the 40th of its launch.
Dont get me wrong the Sprint as a car is great, there quick, handle nice etc etc but give me a 1300 dolly and I'd be happy!! Please please don't say I/we always have sprints on the stand, I'm in full agreement with you that there are other Dollys and I always try and put that message across when I can!! Me and Bruce have been doing this show for the past 6 years and have always chosen the lesser cars, but were the Dolomite club and people also want to see the flagship of the model !!

With my request for cars I'm asking for 5 bright coloured cars, I want them all to stand out not just the Sprint!!

The lesser cars haven't lost out, it would be so easy for me to have asked for 6 Sprints, but iv asked for 3 with the other 3 being other models, why not offer your car, you have done a lot of work to it and it looks great, come along and we'l support the lesser cars together

One another note, Steve I have no objection to a modified Toledo, can I pencil you in for the day??

Cheers Nathan

Sorry Nath

I didn't mean to cause any harm and I know you prefer the lesser models. But I also forgot it was the anniversary of the Sprint

You could have had my TC but she is off the road at the moment, needing another clutch kit and slave. And as I'm converting her to an OD gearbox there is no point buying a clutch kit for the gearbox that is in there at the moment.

I'm still trying to find some more bits.

All the best

No harm caused Darren, don't worry about it, like i say the Sprint is a great car but we do have to remember Triumph produced other dolly saloons, there all great cars in there own right, i know why people like the Sprint but there is something satisfying about beating a boy racer from the lights in an old 1300/1500ohv :D

If your at Stoneleigh pop by mate and say hello!!

Anyway back on Topic.......cars....anyone?? :help:
