Looking for advice on Rustproofing
Looking for advice on Rustproofing
Hello all,i have just joined the Forum.I am looking for some advice/tips on Rustproofing for the Dolomite Sprint.I hope to be purchasing one in the near future,i've always loved the shape/looks of the car,and of course the Triumph history.I've been told to use Shell Ensis V,so i will be buying some, but i would like to know if i can apply this product without a compressor,is it thin enough to use via a garden sprayer? and does it dry,or remain oily? Many thanks in advance for any help

Rust remover and rust proofer are two different products...
1978 Twilight Purple Dolomite 1850HL The Lolomite.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.

Thanks for the replies
Yes i'm not looking for a rust converter,or remover.Just want to hear about how people have used Shell EnsisV.My plan is to preserve a fairly original car when i get it.

Get yourself a compressor and a wax injection gun. You can then spray the wax into the box sections very easily. There's no point in filling it up completely. You want to atomise the product and ensure a thin film covers the inside of your car. A thin, flexible and creepable product is best of which Ensis is pretty good. Aerosols don't atomise very well at all and you end up wasting the product and make more mess than necessary. Remember you're only trying to make a barrier between steel and the air/water. Think about how sheet steel can be protected by only a thin coating of light oil and you get the idea.
I recently applied cavity wax to my MX-5 and a litre of Dinitrol was more than adequate to do the pair of sills and chassis legs. I have enough left over to do the doors and other bits too. After a few weeks the stink of wax went away.

Re: Looking for advice on Rustproofing
Sorry for bringing up an old thread.I went ahead and bought some Shell Ensis DW6055 and the necessary equipment for spraying,to Rust Proof 3 cars.I didn't know how much to buy at the time,so i ended up buying 2 20L drums, which i now know was too much.I have almost a full container left over,it's registering over the 18L mark on the drum,so if anyone wants it, and can get it collected via courier, let me know.
