Performance Camshaft at Triumph Show

#1 Post by xvivalve »

There was a performance camshaft without identifying markings at Stoneliegh, although it did have 270 stamped on the 'wrong' end which could have been for duration.

Did anyone on here buy it?

If so, out of interest, have you measured it yet and identified it?

The seller was somewhat optimistically asking £100, it would be interesting to know how much he compromised on that...both Ken Clarke and I walked away but were intrigued later in the day to see it gone...

The Stoneleigh performance cam did have markings on it, other than the normal Stanpart markings, it has STR 0516 stamped between a couple of the lobes. As you are probably aware it is not a re-grind (i.e it is an original triumph cam), it has not yet been accurately measured. Currently I am trying to find any information on this cam, does anyone have details? Finally as to the cost, the final price was agreeable to both parties shall we say.

Yes, it did, but as I said, without 'identifying' markings.

Measuring duration and lift will give clues, both relatively easy to measure, especially the lift.

Did any further information follow on from this discussion?

Wondering if this is the cam as referred to in amendment 23/13V of the homologation paperwork dated 1/9/1977

From the information we have gathered the STR 0516 part number refers to the forged cam blank, not the profile, can anyone confirm this?
With reference to the lift it measures out between the fast road and rally cams, I do not know if it is the cam as referred to in amendment 23/13V of the homologation paperwork.
