Some weeks ago David and I hatched a plan.
In the red corner I had the 1500TC Auto I saved from the crusher last year which was nearly ready to be MOT'd. He had, in the blue corner the ice blue Tolly he bought earlier this year that he had unsuccesfully eBayed.
I suggested a swap (I think it was me but David will correct me if I'm wrong). We both liked the idea.
Weeks rolled by. My work got in the way. My family commitments got in the way. But then as you all know, two weeks ago GYM the 1500 sailed through the MOT and I got him taxed a road legal.
After a false start earlier in the week (work again) tonight was the night. I drove GYM down to Portsmouth, and drove the Tolly back. 160 miles in old Dolly's in one evening - fabulous!
So David is now the proud owner of a 1500TC Auto and I have a Tolly while my FWD is off the road for a front suspension rebuild. It couldn't be finer.
We both have a few odd jobs to do, but that is all part of the fun.
Many thanks to David for going along with the idea, the tea, and hospitality. Thanks to both cars for running like swiss watches in their respective directions.
Its nights like this I love being in this Club.

The 1500 TC is all insured and went for its inaugural run to the pub yesterday evening.
I am really pleased with this car, never really encountered the swap thing but its worked out well on a number of occasions since I joined this club.
Got a few jobs to do as Martin says
Seats will be changed today weather permitting, then the stereo speakers (currently some door ones in some polystyrene packaging with a t shirt taped over the top. Actually looked quite professional until I looked a bit closer.
(When we had the stereo post that saitrix coimmented on, I dont think this was quite what he had in mind for a good sound setup) nice radio cassette though.
Window winders (supplied
) and other trim pieces that are broken also for today
then there are a few more tasks on the horizon, radiator pipes (also supplied with the car by Martin
)
Then a tune and some bits of bodywork
I might put a set of sprint wheels on as well (Maybe even in the short term the ones that came off the tolly as part of the deal as Martin prefers the originals, so sorry about that bit Martin!)
Now does anyone need a chesnut rear seat base and a back in good condition (minor sun damage to the seat back?)
Pics to follow I think...

David,
I too have been busy today.
Parcel shelf out, dash out, heater out. Tolly heater installed to replace Dolomite item. Speedo changed (and working). Warning lights now working. New oil pressure switch. Interior light sorted. Cooling system flushed and refilled. Boot light sorted. Wiring behind dash tidied. Heated rear window re-instated.
Had a good blast in the car this evening and, as I suspected she goes very well indeed. Bit of a flatspot at the top end but that's a tomorrow job, together with topping up the diff, greasing underneath, a number plate lamp, some instrument lights and a general clean.
She was still accelerating at an indicated 95. This is a good car. Very very happy mate - thanks again.
