Which starter for Sprint?

Hi Folks,
Last week I had a thread about my dodgy starter motor - well I now want to replace it - but where do I go for a decent one?
xvivalve suggested a recon club one, but I note that Rimmers also do a Hi Torque one - I also saw a recon one on ebay for £88.
Where do I go for the best one? (due to lack of time to spend on my Sprint, i'm not too bothered about differences in cost, I just want to fit it and then forget about it!)

depends on what the definition of 'recon' entails...club ones are fully done.
If you can afford the hi torque then have a go; they are apparently lighter too (our recon man reckons they don't last long though due to the gear reductions...any real time experiences of them out there?)

Hmm, looks like nobody has tried them - but if they don't last as long as the standard ones I probably don't want one.
So, how does one get a club recon starter, are they in stock and how much are they? (can't see anything in the magazine)

Ring Malc; he'll take the order and payment, I will dispatch. They are an exchange item so we need the old one back, else you lose a surcharge. Not exactly in stock, though I took half a dozen units into him at the begining of the year. Hopefully they will now be done...

A question Alun / Malc. Do I send you the units I have so that you can recondition them, or hold them back in case I need one myself and then need something to send in?
Lets face it ones that come off cars are not always defunct, sometimes they just need replacing for reliability, but that could mean they could serve as a spare.....

Quite right, not all need a full recon, or any recon at all; if this is the case with your's David, then keep them as spares for yourself.
I used my stock of 'spares' to get the recon programme going, and the exchange units keeps 'the club' stock at about six rotating units, which at the on the shelf cost is enough really. A few extra units arrive via shows etc (but not many) and this compensates for the occasional return unit which is not serviceable.
I'm only doing Sprint/1850 items at the moment.
