Newbie 72 Toledo owner (restoration project)

First of all hi to all members. I'm a newbie not only to this site but to the whole restoration and classic car world.

After a few months of looking at different potential projects I will be taking delivery of my new project tomorrow (unbelievably excited). The car needs a bit of work but it runs fine (phew).

My first question is. Where would I find some original 1972 Toledo seats. As the ones fitted are different from the front to back and from a Alfa 156. Now I want the original look seats. The condition of them is not too important as I hope to have them re upholstered to my liking.

Hi & Welcome.

There is a chap near to me (W.Midlands) called Nigel who has just bought some Dolomite seats from me to replace his Toledo seats. Unfortunately last time he rang me he told me he was going off to run a caravan site somewhere for the summer, and I don't have note of his number. He will have some toledo seats going spare, so its a shame I can't put you in touch. I'll see if I can get his mobile number from the guy who put him in touch with me...but I don't see him that often either...

Post some photo's of the arrival, won't you?

Welcome to the forum.

Photos are a must. You've come to the right place for help and advice. I recommend joining the club. The benefits outweigh the membership fee so it is excellent value. The first thing I would do is to put it in for an MoT to see what in needs to be road legal unless you know it will fail on something obvious like serious corrosion, worn tyres or non-working lights.

I have tried adding photos. But think I need to do it from my laptop as I have tried from iPhone and it won't let me. If you manage to get the number that would be a big help thanks a lot

I'm very new to this site so I'm still trying to figure it out with very little time due to work/family commitments.

So if you can tell me a bit about this club. I.E. Price. Benefits. Etc

Sorry if I sound a little uneducated here but as a newbie I'm finding it a little hard to get my bearings on this site lol. But I'm going nowhere and have the rest of time to get familiar

I have a pair of Toledo front seats for a 4 door taking up space in my shed. They are from a 72 car and are brown vinyl, overpainted grey (badly), the vinyl and general condition is good and there are no rips. The paint, which doesn't seem to have dried properly, MAY wash off with a suitable solvent! Free to collector!

Steve's seats are very solid. I can vouch for that. They have been sprayed with vinyl paint which just didn't seem to take on that occasion.

Loving the Alfa seats by the way. If you decide to get rid.......

Looks a good solid base for resto.

Steve isn't far from me. When/if you pick up his seats, I can probably find you a rear 'screen for the same price....

Hi, I'm in Highley, South Shropshire, bout 12 miles from Kidderminster or 18 from Stourbridge or Telford (it does say on my post and you can include your general location too) I'm guessing you're somewhere in the west mids since the car came from Staffs somewhere IIRC.

Ok so had my first real good look at the car today. And can't say that there is anything really major to be done. A lot of tinkering and prepping. But on the whole a solid car. I'm in birmingham so not far at all from you guys.

I'm in 2 minds weather to change the bonnet or repair a small patch by the one hinge. Do any of you guys know what price I would be looking to pay and if so is rimmers my best bet ????

I have the glass for both front and rear just not fitted as they were aparantly removed to fit the new head liner. In all honesty I would say I have around 70% of the parts needed to finish. I'm just choosing to be a little bit particular and change certain things lol.
