Toledo Headlamps RHD
Toledo Headlamps RHD
I'm nearly at the end of the restauration of my Toledo! It's the last one in Austria!
Hugh headache for me is that I can't get Headlamps (europe) for my car. Rimmer, Quiller and others doesn't have it available.
My Question: Does anybody know if the Headlamps (originaly Lucas Bulb-Type) of other producers (like Hillman Hunter, chrysler Avenger, Bond?...) are the same or fits for the Toledo!
Many thanks for your hints

Re: Toledo Headlamps RHD
All of the above, Hunter, Avenger, Allegro, possibly Bond and maybe one of the Reliants are the same as Toledo.
Finding any of these in LHD config is going to be tough, but at least it gives you a bigger pool to fish in!

Hmmm.......
Chrysler Avenger lamps are too big but it is possible that earlier Hillman version used Hunter headlamps which should fit.
I am thinking that Austin Metro headlamps will fit a Toledo.
Try ebay, there were quite a lot of Toledos sold across Europe.
Also,
If I was in your position, I would scour the breakers yards armed with a tape measure.....
Fiat 126? Yugo?

Good news
Hi.
I think that I have a set of brand new Toledo LHD headlamps in my spare parts 'emporium'. I bought these a while back for one of my cars but then suspected that they were for left-hand-drive models, so I had to save up again for some genuine sealed beams for British roads.
They are new, genuine Lucas and have never been fitted to a car. On sealed-beam RHD lamps, the little Lucas 'lion' is in the centre but on these ones, where the bulb is replaceable, the 'lion' is set towards the centre bottom and I think the lens pattern is different too, making me think that they are LHD. Having the lion also makes then pre-1976, because 'Lucas' is not spelled out.
If you are interested, let me know and I shall unearth them and take some photos, so we can see whether, or not, they are LHD. I won't be able to have a look, until the end of the month though.
Rob.
