Revival - anyone else go?

Had a great time at the Revival yesterday. Truth be told I only went for the Lancasters which were due on at 11.
They showed up at 6pm so I had to spend the time ticket-less but no worries. The car park is great fun and you could easily spend all
day drooling and loads of interesting people to talk too, including some old mates from previous Ace meets etc...

My fave was either the yellow Miura or the Zagato Aston DB4, which though only a replica build on a proper DB4 chassis, simply couldn't be faulted.

There was one other dolomite, I took ERO so I could blag my way in to the classic car park. Nice blue auto with Sprint wheels.

Anyone on here?

I was there yesterday, mate of mine got some free tickets so couldn't say no.

Agreed the car park was amazing so much to look at, we didn't get round all of it as we wanted to see the racing.

We got a great spot on the first corner bank, in the first race one of the single seaters got two wheels on the grass, spun and went backwards into the tyre wall, in the resulting spin he was flung clear of the car and slid along the grass as the car followed narrowly missing him, luckily he was ok.

Couldn't stay for the lancs, we left after the Shelby cup race.

Top tip to beat the traffic queues, go by train to Chichester, they lay on old buses from the station to the track, not free though.

I went for the duration - all three days and used the Goodwood camping, as I have done now for five years.

This is my favourite event in the motoring calendar bar none. The "over the road" car show is worth the journey on its own and the racing inside the circuit is just fantastic. Add the thrill of the air displays (such a privilege to see two Lancs flying together) and the extraordinary attention to detail about the entire event and it is a dreamlike three days. Added to that, I had a fantastic spirited drive down and back in my new Healey, and was grinning very broadly last night by the time I got back.

I saw a french blue Toledo on Saturday, wearing a Club Triumph sticker and of course, Al Olympics magnificent two door Outspan orange Tolly was in position A at the front of the car show on Sunday.

The car I would have liked to take home most? The wonderful pale blue Delahaye in the pre-73 car park.

Saw your car there Jonners and spotted that it was not a sprint and pointed it out to Rebecca and Diane.
Rebecca was press so allowed in lots of places and we got invited in to some nice spots too

I was blown away by the race win for a TR4 in the first race on Sun. I had seen that he was up against Ginetta G4 Porsches and Ferrari etc and assumed he would be making up the numbers.
To see a Triumph in second behind a G4 was fantastic and to witness him pass and slide all fours into the corners at lap speeds of 93 mph was awesome.

The classic saloons are my favourites and here again I marvel at their pace, surely an A40 with an old A series engine is junk, however they are not and show the field their abilities.

What was missing as usual is the early TR2's and 3's as these cars were potent in their day and Reg Woodcock used to beat up entire grids of Astons and Jags to prove it.

Late Sun the P51 Mustang took off and as he climbed he retracted his undercarriage which promptly broke as one wheel flopped back down. He flew slowly round as a Spitfire moved underneath presumably to see what was wrong and they both flew off I expect to Bournemouth where the airfield was better able to cope with a crash landing and also to use up as much fuel as possible. I hope all went well.

Lancasters, Yes amazing. I live on a very tall hill and often the BOBMF comes over en route to a show or on the way back. I think they often forget how high we are because they come over extremely low. I have not yet been priviledged to see the two together but even just seeing one is quite a site and a truly amazing noise.

I've wanted to go for years, but once you account for the cost of the event itself, the cost of travelling 650 miles south and the time I'd have to take off work it makes it utterly impossible for me.

I was there on Saturday, Drove down from London with my Dad in my 1500 but as it is V reg had to park with all the moderns.
I was at that same corner when the Maserati (i think?) came off and threw out the driver. It was my first time there, we watched every race and saw the Lancasters at the end. An unbelievably good day.

We hired a camper van and did Thursday to Monday. My favourite race was the voiturette race where the chap was flung from his car.....It was like watching a video except this was real life.....absolutely astonished he wasn't dead!! Never mind the car going upside down on the start finish straight! How much are these cars worth??

Preparing the Sprint as I'm not allowed an A35 but still managed to find this one......☺



Thought the St. Mary 's was a poor do this year with no falcons etc. and where was Nick Swift in his mini?
