One of my wheel studs has come away from the hub - the nut just spins. Need some clever ideas to try and get it off

Re: Spinning wheel nut
Front or rear? Either way it's going to be fun.. Do you have alloys or steel wheels?

Remove the others and use a crowbar to leaver the wheel towards you very hard whilst undoing it, assistance would be useful. Alternatively clamp the nut with molegrips and wiggle and pull to try and re-spline it.

Re: Spinning wheel nut
Drill down into the nut from the front at the edge of the nut where it meets the thread on the stud. You need sharp cobalt-coated drills and lots of lube! When you have a fairly deep hole, hammer a tapered punch into the hole and hit hard - with luck the nut will split and pull off the stud. Done a few like this..... You will of course need a new stud and nut after but you shouldnt damage the wheel.

Re: Spinning wheel nut
What Matt said in theory but you could also use a dremel cutting disc to go down the side of the nutt.
