Help!

#1 Post by Teresa »

Just joined the site and having read through some of the posts and seen how helpful you all are I thought I'd give this a go.

I'm due to go to Stoke on Trent to have a look at a 1981 Dolomite 1500 on Saturday - I've been looking for an affordable one for quite a while now (this is going for about a grand) and will be travelling a fair few miles to see it so I'm hoping it's worth it. It looks fine in the photos but I'm not mechanically minded enough to know what to look for and obviously don't want to end up getting fleeced. Any top tips/ideas? I'd rather not have to pay for an AA check unless I absolutely have to.

I'd be very grateful for any info!

Cheers all
T

Well we've got quite a few members in the Stoke/North Staffs area, some of whom use this forum. I'm pretty sure that one of them might be able to pop along to give their opinion on the car. If none of them has seen this post by the weekend, get in touch with the club on 08700 111737 (or PM me) and let us have a contact number and we'll pass it on to someone in the area....
Please note that I am simply a Forum administrator, so please do not contact me unless your question is regarding your Forum account. For general enquiries regarding the Club and its services (membership queries, questions about spares, lapdancing etc) please see https://forum.triumphdolomite.co.uk/vie ... hp?t=20098

Are you enjoying using our forum? If so why not support the owners club which provides it by joining The Triumph Dolomite Club? Help us to preserve these great cars for future generations.
Club membership costs just £30 for one year or £55 for two years. See https://forum.triumphdolomite.co.uk/vie ... =4&t=37824 for details.

Hello Teresa

I live in Stoke on Trent myself and am more than happy to help out if you want? You can PM me if you like and I can give you a call to discuss.

Hi Theresa, whereabouts in London are you? I'm based in Edmonton/Enfield - N9

Would be happy to look at the car in greater depth here, but I can't travel out to view the car with you unfortunately. I'm sure someone on the forum will help :D

Good luck

Ken, I'm in Bethnal Green - not a million miles from you!

Mark, I've sent you my number, hopefully speak to you soon.

Thanks again

You can have a look at my 1500HL on the way through for comparison if you want; no MOT yet, but its more of a £500 than £1000 car. Tidyish, with good mechanicals.

5 miles from M5 junction 3 with a 'short cut' from mine to J13 M6 up the A449...

Won't be in until PM though as I'm shifting 3 dollies around the Midlands on my trailer in the morning

Take it without an MOT and the fail sheet and its yours for £350...

Sounds like a bargain, if I had any idea what I was doing I'd be tempted but I need something that I can drive away - thanks all the same!

Thank you kindly. Definitely no worries on that score, Dolly will NOT be wearing any fluffy pink tat!

Met up with Teresa and her blue 1500HL last night :D :D

The car is now with Steam Engine Mate awaiting a good service, fettle and an mot. The car is lovely, really tidy with only a few minor bits to sort out and T is justifiably proud of the car.... excellent.

T - brilliant to meet you, and as you said before, no sign of any pink tat on the car whatsoever    Top girlie 'cos she didn't take the p155 out of the Rollerskate :D
