Gearbox tunnel

What is recommended as a sealant for the transmission tunnel. I don't want to use silicon as it will make future removal all the harder. Is it still possible to get the seemingly rubberised stuff of the original?

Silicone is usually very easy to remove. If you want hard to remove try butyl strip. I'd consider either using silicone or make up something suitable from some rubber.

This stuff is very similar to what was originally fitted.

Originally there is a rubber preformed gasket fitted to the tunnel.
