I've used this a few times and it has worked out very good:

How soon? If Tony is going to Triumph Show he can pass it to me, I can then get family to drop it off to you on their way past sometime...

Using 'Interparcel economy' I can send up to four cill sections for pence over £14.00. A prop shaft is probably equivalent weight and slightly shorter. They pick up from and deliver to any address. You'd need to wrap it in cardboard.

You can split the propshaft and (cable) tie it to a length of sarking, then wrap it in polythene or cling film.

I just used Interparcel - they subcontract to UPS, it was 15 quid for a pair of skis from Surrey to Wales - probably slightly less weight than a prop but much longer parcel.

I can get it form Wokingham to the FOD any time but I won't be going down the M5 until August.

I had a look round a couple of firms and under ....

I found good prices ,quick delivery ; but the big problem was " No vehicle parts" and if they are discovered they will dispose of them in transit.
Rather short sighted I thought as there are nice clean unused parts around as well as oily bits which I can see are a problem.
Tony.

If you opt for myHermes through interparcel.com your contract is with interparcel not myHermes; their restrictions are less restrictive. Most club panelwork goes through interparcel and I clearly put 'car panels' in the description.
