Hi
I need a new dizzy for my Sprint, just wondered if anyone had purchased one from the above ?? They do a fast road version at a reasonable price compared to a standard rimmer bros re-con.
Any information greatly received
John

If you are looking at the one that fits sprint/herald/spitfire they have got it wrong. Sprint dizzy different animal to the OHV engines.

The Sprint uses a Lucas 44D4 dizzy. They use the same points and condenser as the 45D4 but that's where the resemblance ends.

try h+_h ignitions, they are specialists with a good reputation. I suspect rimmers just put the work out to whoever is cheapest?

If your looking for programmable ignition this looks interesting.

But no vac advance......
If doing that a megajolt or nodiz would be a better option (with a bit more faff/expense)

Alan, according to the listing, it isn't compatible with the Sprint. The seller is one I'd recommend though. Others to try are the Distributor Doctor or SimonBBC. An electronic ignition kit such as the Lumenition would be the best way to go and they're not affceted by timing scatter caused by a worn dizzy shaft. I'd recommend the Britpart kit but I don't know if it would fit under the Sprint rotor arm.
Okay.....

If you are going to spend that kind of money John, I suggest you also consider a 123 distributor.
The one for a Spitfire 1500 can fit a Sprint, you need to fit a side entry cap and change the drive gear for the Sprint one (needs an adapter
that any machine shop will make easily). A Dolomite 1500 distributor clamp can be adapted to suit.
Ian.

I just tried various Dolly models and it doesn't seem to fit any of them!

I have the stealth module on my Jensen. The chip for talking to the laptop is useless and doesn't always work, but once you have convinced it to connect it all seems to work pretty well and give good control, though it has its limitations. Also bought a complete distributer from them and am less impressed with that, it was cheap and it shows.
The reason I went this route rather than megajolt was to keep it looking original which in reality is a pretty stupid reason.

Different Ebay entries give different cars (including Aston Martin !).
It's external, fully programmable and it says at the bottom that it can be used with any distributor that has electronic points.
Having said that, if a 123 can be made to fit I think I would go for it.

Jeroen, looks perfect but which 123 distributor is that please? When I asked them recently about one for the Sprint they said they didn't do one. I need it to go under a Weber type inlet manifold.
