Hi,

Amongst other things, I need the two hoses that connect the H shaped pipe to the heater at the bulkhead and the two hoses that go forward from the H pipe.

The problem is there appears to be two different shaped H pipes. The one that I have seen pictured on Rimmers and elsewhere is a very simple flat H shape, but mine appears to be a bit longer and has upturned ends.

Does anyone understand what I am trying to explain and where can I be sure to get the correct hoses? I note the club has the two hoses to connect to the heater but I cannot tell if they are the correct ones for my H pipe.

I beleive that the shape you are describing is the later version. The simple flat H shape is for early sprints.

As Malcolm said, the later ones have the 90 bends in the pipes and a longer pipe that goes to the waterpump housing (couldn't find a pic). You will be hard pushed to get the correct heater hoses for the early 'H' piece connector which has two 90 deg. bends in. The only ones around are the ones with one 90 bend for the later model.

So, I will need 2x the club hoses, (Cooling - Hose Heater £7.99)?
What about the other hose(s) going forward? Rimmers have 152525 (a straight piece of hose which replaces 152529 and needs cut to length) which goes from 'water valve to heater' which I 'think' means from the H pipe to the water pump cover.

Am I right in thinking the 4th connection is actually direct into the underneath of the inlet manifold? Unfortunately the car is at the garage doing the work and I cannot remember exactly what the layout was, I was just asked to get the hoses but contrary to my original post I think it is just 3 hoses I need.

If you want them, I have two new late sprint heater hoses in kevlar available free of charge, but please do bear in mind the short lifespan of kevlar (one year?).
(There was no response to the advert I placed for them....)

Having done this myself,
I disagree with the assertion that it is difficult to obtain hoses for an early Sprint. These can be made up from off the shelf 13mm bore silicone 90 degree elbows and a straight joint.
The heater return (to the water pump cover) is from straight 13mm silicone hose.
Silicone hose = fit and forget, but please use proper hose clips (British made JCS).
In fact all the hoses for either a Sprint or 1850 can be made from off the shelf components.



The H-piece with proper beaded ends is available in stainless steel from Chris Witor (as is the later pipework).
Alternatively you can use two T-pieces and a connecting hose.

Double checked and it is four hoses I need. I had seen a pic on the net but it must have been for a different car/installation) , but think we can get away with three 90 deg turn hoses and a straight one?

Early Sprints has the simple H pipe (159712). The later one is TKC1196. Rimmer Bros sell a conversion kit to convert later ones to the early type.

Bit of a contradiction there Ian, as I said, they are not readily available.

Early Sprint it is then Tim....
You can use a 90 degree elbow onto each heater connection. The other two hoses can be made from straight hose.
(Small (19mm or less) bore straight quality silicone hose will bend comfortably close to 90 degrees without deforming. Venair is a good brand.)

I would start by trial fitting the hoses to the heater connections and then decide where is best for the H-piece.
The normal method of using a hose clip as a guide and cutting with a knife works fine with silicone hoses.

Hasn't Steve Waldenberg posted recently that his company has the tooling for all Dolomite hoses?

I believe he does Alun. He has told me in the past that he can get cooling system hoses made for all "our" cars.

Been searching for the post, but can't find it...

Thanks Ian. It is def the H pipe with the two upturned ends to the heater and the piece that crosses over as it points to the water pump housing and the shorter end that goes to the inlet manifold.

Can anyone confirm the diameter of hose required? 13mm internal diameter??
