Dashboard circuit help...

#1 Post by grifterkid »

Hello folks, just a quicky...!!!

I think I may have a dodgy fuse or a shonky bit of wiring as there are certain things that sporadically stop functioning with regards to my electrics...!

So when things go awry this is what doesn't work (that I know for sure!)...

1) Temp'/fuel gauge....
2) Windscreen wipers...
3) Fan blower...
4) Heated rear window...
5) Indicators...

Note: My speedometer works as do my hazard warning lights when the above are not working.

That's all I think as I haven't checked my lights when the problem occurs...

I'm sure it's simple but if you can tell me where to look for possible problems that would be great as I'd like to sort this out sooner rather than later for obvious reasons!!!

Thanks a million to you all in advance...

Ash, it is as you reasoned, with so many things failing at once, it is fuse related,
check the fuses and ensure all connections are clean.

Moving forward, it is feasible to improve the wiring by using more fuses/better fusebox.

Do you think folks think it's worth getting a new fuse box just as a matter of course...?! It is rather old after all...!!!

If so, what one am I looking out for?!

No just clean your old one with your WD4 like jollop of choice and a fine brass wire brush.

Well after a fuse change and a fuse terminal clean-up (not necessarily in that order!) things are back up and running...

Well, almost!

My HRW seems to be on the blink!!! The dash light illuminates but when leaving for work this morning my rear screen did not clear at all (and it only takes about 10 minutes when it's all good)...

So, where do I need to look to remedy this...?! I want to get this working as it's one of the few options that really helps out. Well, it's just one of the few options full-stop really...

Thanks to you all in advance...
