Picture of a 1973 Sprint wanted.

#1 Post by GrahamFountain »

Does anyone have a nice picture of one of the mimosa and black trim 1973 Sprints, to go on the Wikipedia page on dolomites: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triumph_Dolomite? The one that's there is on an M plate, but has a later vinyl roof and brown seats with headrests, and that's just what I can see.

The 16v Slant 4 engine is more fun than the 3.5 V8, because you mostly drive it on the upslope of the torque curve.

Good point Graham!

The brown seats also carry headrests, there is a later bumper at the front and the doors have the later rubbing strips and there are no embelishers to the top of the cill. Squinting, it would also appear to have later inertia seat belts...

Surely, a photo of Polly B's car when it is back together would be appropriate?

I'm kinda hoping for a picture of an unrestored early one, like one of the FRW cars, for e.g., but that would do nicely.

But whatever it is, a picture of a yellow and black car must involve sunshine.

Hi Graham, my car will be back together by May bank holiday but, if you don't want wait you can find an unrestored picky on my thread - Look what my lovely husband has got for me. I agree it would be better to have not restored her but the old girl would have rotted away.
Anyway, if you want to use that picture then you have my permission as long as you put my name there. Polly Booker.
It isn't Orange!!!!!!
The other one wasn't Purple either!!!
One of the new ones will probably be green, very green.
Another new one is green too but not as green as the previous one. Still pretty green. No, now it's Blue.
The other new one will be white with stripes. Actually it might not. No, it will be.
BUT, that one is definitely Yellow :=}

I'm sure the Wikipedia page can wait till May, but I'll have a look on the thread.

I'm not in anyway against restorations to keep cars on the road. I replaced the front of my TR7 Sprint right to the bulkhead and chassis rails (and the back end rotted away anyway). Though I was pleased to discover my 73 doly sprint is number 2065 of the first 2000, cos I can restore/mod as I like without guilt (possibly some gelt though).

Your name would go with the source of the picture on Wikimedia Commons, not on the page where it's used, if that's okay.

I've improved the Wikipedia page with a picture of Len Hughes' 73 Sprint, which looks much better than what was there. I've also added a note on the first 2000 cars being Mimosa with black trim, citing the press release in MikeyB's 'How do we spot an "Early One"?' posting. I thought about noting that they were still making Mimosa and black trim cars to at least chassis number 2065, citing the BMIHT record search cert, but thought better of it.

But anyone can re-edit it, if they feel like it.
