I have recently had new Gaz shocks fitted front and back of my 1850. I have also had new springs fitted to the front, but agreed to have some "slightly used" springs fitted to the back. I may be regretting this decision.
When my car is full of passengers I really struggle to get over speed bumps with out bottoming out. Especially the big ones they tend to have at shopping centres.
I have recently replaced my exhaust (which was knackered anyway) due to contact with a speed bump. I don't want a repeat of this incedent.
Is it the quality of the springs that effects ride hight the most? Will having new springs fitted solve my low ride hight problem?
I frequently take 3 passengers and a boot full of stuff on days out.
Should I get stiffer than standard springs to help deal with this load?
Can anyone reccomend where to by a good pair of rear springs?
Thanks
Chris
Ride hight with passengers in back.
These cars were designed for the halcyon days when sleeping policemen were only found at the station, and potholes were something that men with beards climbed down. The springs are the principal thing for adjusting ride height (unless you have adjustable platform shocks) so I would think a set of upgraded standard height springs would be in order. Rimmers have them, and I think Lewis found somewhere that can make them to order very reasonably.
