According to my trusty Triumphtune manual you need to fit the AAU needles. Have a look on e-bay, there was a chap in Havant selling new ones for just a couple of quid each.
I fitted twin HS4s to a 1300 Dolomite that I had about 25 years ago and they made quite a difference to the way it went. I also fitted the cast manifold and twin down-pipe from a 1500, which helped too.

I did this very conversion to my Dolomite 1300 7 years ago. Ideally, you need the whole Dolly 1500 exhaust because it is a larger bore than the 1300 and the mountings are the same so it will fit. As for the needles, I would've gone with ABT needles as used on the Dolly 1500 with the standard airbox. Richer needles would be required with a K&N type air filter.
