Ready for 1st show I think!!

#1 Post by RJF_70 »

Had my Dolly for a month now and got quite a few jobs sorted, so decided to put her into her 1st show with me tomorrow 24th at Gaydon. Tackled gearbox subframe mount last night, and was a git of a job but managed it and was pleased with the outcome! Replacement mount provided by geeksteve. Also got the rear diff sealed properly again, Thanks to Tony g. Voltage regulator sorted, oil leak sorted, wheels cleaned up, interior very clean, chrome polished, and generally looking great and rather shiney.
Attached are some pics taken today
Gearbox mount that was shot to pieces

And some pics of preparation and final result

Pretty pleased with the way she looks today, plan to start the bits of body work asap dependant on weather and garage availability

Had a great day at Gaydon yesterday, apart from the weather. Also been to classic car and auto jumble today and couldn't believe the amount of cars on show there, all sorts, British classics, american muscle, bikes galore, vw's. If anyone fancies going to their next one its at Leicester racecourse on 28th June. Were some nice Triumphs today including 1 other Dolly 1500hl, A mint white Toledo, Various vitesses and spitfires, I thought it was really great. Link to the website is http://www.a47autojumble.co.uk/
Can anyone tell me the exact colour of red my Dolly is? Had someone suggest Pimento Red yesterday, as I would like to get some paint to do areas that were welded for MOT.
Cheers Rich..

That really is a beautiful looking Dolomite right there...!!!

I know I've said it loads on here, but I wish my Toledo was that shiny!

What a lovely car this is, just superb...

Yes I did a bit on the front end to finish some bits off. Got 4 wheel studs fitted, just have to modify 2 more to make a set for the other side now. Hoping to get the engine mostly together this week. :)

The paint code is on the plate which is riveted to the nearside inner wing. Wasn't Pimento an early colour? It could be Flamenco. This is assuming that it is the original colour.

XJX is Pimento according to the chassis plate...on a '77 Sprint? It has been mentioned that that is not a '77 colour.
Sprintless for the first time in 35+ years. :boggle2: ... Still Sprintless.

Engines, Gearboxes, Overdrives etc. rebuilt. PM me.

What is XJX's VA number? It could have sat 12 months+ before being registered...

SFB was/is also flamenco...

Was that not its original colour Mart?

Flamenco replaced Pimento for 76-78 ish when Vermillion took over.

I would guess this 1500 auto one is resprayed in pimento. They are all very close. Colour blind Gary painted ERO in flamenco by mistake and I didnt realise until we had the wings redone in pimento.... Now its a bit multi hued...

ERO will all be pimento again one day...

Being a late car this could also have been given a late colour. There is a late TR7 colour that looks like this but I cant remember the name.

Original colour was Vermillion, which has been left in some areas of the boot area, will check the plate for paint code to be sure, but this red is quite different to the vermillion! Was just hoping that it is a Triumph Red.

XJX's chassis no. is VA22694.

Yes, SFB was originally Flamenco Jon. I don't think I could tell the difference between the three reds any way.
