Well folks, this is one thing that I have never had cause to tackle before. Shock!
The ones on LWT are poor. I have spare doors which have seals in good order. How do I get them off and fit the replacements?
Simple question no doubt but it is puzzling me.
Cheers

Door glass outer weatherstrip seal
Re: Door glass outer weatherstrip seal
If you look at them in profile they are a T shape with a round bead along the bottom edge. This is what holds them in place inside steel clips so they should just pull out, but over time and especially if the door has been painted they stick. If so you might not be able to remove them without damaging them. I've replaced them on two cars during resto's and the replacements do not fit as well as the originals. If that's where you end up sit them in boiling water before you fit them to make them more pliable and then they sit better once fitted.
Good luck!
Andy.
Good luck!

If you want to transfer seals from one door to another good luck....
Dont pull them...they WILL break.
The only way would be to drop the window right down in the door so you can see all the clips...about 1cm square folded things
and knock them down into the door with a suitable blunt screwdriver or thin chisel. Then the strip should come off if you
are gentle and it isnt stuck to paint. A sharp knife should help free it in that case.
Getting them back is a mare of a job. Try and re-use the old clips if you can after a clean up and repaint if needed.
Then you need to construct a U shaped hook tool that will pull them back up onto the rubber and ridge on the door to hold
them back inplace. Note where the clips were fitted and go somewhere similar on your new door.

It is an arse! The old strips go brittle and the replacements I've found are not a great fit. They don't make'em like they used to!
Re: Door glass outer weatherstrip seal
I used Chris Witor's outer seal strips and his clips, perfect. Still a bugger to fit, but after the first 4 doors you get the knack.
