NTN or Timken????

#1 Post by PaulB »

I am busy rebuilding the re axle at present and wonder ing which way to go on bearings.

A set of OE Timken are £200 from Chris Witor which seems about the cheapest for Timken. A NTN set would be about half price.

Does anyone have knowledge of NTN and how they compare with Timken?

Thanks...

Ive always used british timken / SKF/ or RHP bearings many years in the commercial mower trade has made me very wary of any others many of which are chinese or russian origin. At the end of the day you only get what you pay for, for a rear axle rebuild use only the best you can afford. Tractor boy

Since nobody could answer my question,I have made a tool to manufacture my own shims.NTN are,I believe made in Japan, and I have found them to be excellant bearings.I have just fitted them to the axle I have rebuilt,if they are not up to scratch I will let you all know.
