I have a standard sprint with motor in very good condition. The head is shaved with a lightened flywheel. What is the optimum timing position? Is the recommended 10 degree BTDC relevant? Thanks KC.

The general opinion seems to be as long as its no more than 32 degrees total it will be fine so eg 10 degrees plus 22 in the dizzy is ok. If you get 34 total knock the static back to 8 and so on.

Hi Keith

Sprint pistons do seem quite prone to detonation damage so I wouldnt push the advance too far, especially if you have a shaved head. I dont know what sort of fuel you get in Oz, but I do know its hot, so if you have waxstat carbs these can lean out too much
which doesnt help either.

You may loose a few peak hp running at only 10 but its worth it to be safe...
