Panel beaters Surrey/sussex

#1 Post by HQentity »

Hello everyone!

I plan to replace my boot lid and eventually the boot valance and floor panel to get rid of all the rust. Its one of the few bugbears of my beautiful car and I really want to get it sorted! Does anyone have any recommendations of good places to get the boot lid painted? The only place i tried so far quoted me £700 so I was hoping there was somewhere a bit more bank friendly? :L

Also while I'm on the subject, what is the best way of preventing rust? I know thats a huge subject, I just can see the rust getting worse in small areas, like around the corner by the windscreen/door, and I don't want to lose the battle against the rust! :)

There's Southern Triumphs who Mahesh has entrused his Sprint to. There's also Autopride (aka "Autonet7") whose website is HERE. He's done some Dolomites in the past. He's based in Guildford

Maybe somebody local can recommend somebody else.

There is Delacourt Autos in Blackheath, I have never used them before or even been there, but the website address is

http://www.delacourtmotors.co.uk/specials.htm

I am dealing with Southern Triumphs, they are excellent, but Dorset is a bit far for minor/medium works.

Derek Wadsworth will certainly repaint your boot lid for less than that and do a decent job too.

There is also a decent old school firm in Chessington on the road to Leatherhead before you get to the World of Adventure. They did Alistair's hot orange toledo which looks pretty good and I believe has lasted well.

I can't offer any advice on a place to use, but all the best with it: hope you get it sorted at a reasonable cost: keep us updated :-) Kind Regards, Russell

£700 sounds rather excessive for a single panel, if it is just to spray. I thought it was about £150 a panel??

Is it a decent bootlid with minimum prep required? off the car?? As in just primer then topcoat?

If you are not after a concours job, and in no rush (as in to be done this year) I can spray it in 2k, you just get the paint. Maybe a donation to charity....
