Can't find the post, but i'm sure someone was asking whether they should fit a standard radio or a modern head unit in their car.
In 'Classic Cars For Sale' there's a company advertising called The Vintage Wireless Company (Tel:0161 973 0438). They claim to be able to supply the correct radio for any classic car. They're fully restored with the addition of FM reception and iPod input(if required).
Still being firmly on the originality side, i'm planning one for the mongrel (new name for WTH-btw).
Car Radio
I asked me the same question and did some evaluations recently around what options are there for iPod integration as the installed radio was out of order when I bought my Sprint and the aerial was also killed already. The FM transmitter did not satisfy me regarding the music quality and most period radios where either mono only or very expensive if restored into good working order. I didn't like to have these modern chrome plated radios with big colored displays visible in my Dolomite and therefore I decided to leave the old one just for the look and install a cheap modern one with iPod integration into the glove box. This worked out well and in the case I provided my article and the photos in time and there is the proper space it might appear in DM123.
