Re: Photo Hosting Issues

#1 Post by Galileo »

Might be related to them having a recent site makeover and starting to charge a hosting fee? What I can tell you is that as someone who prefers to search and look at old posts to learn, and to not ask a repetitive question, that there is nothing more infuriating than the missing pictures, especially when someone says 'here, I took a picture which shows the issue clearly', grrr! ;)

Edit:

Took a look at the HTML, all of your pictures on this post viewtopic.php?f=19&t=7537&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=480 show as broken.

Says that <img src="http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/5548/dsc05272y.jpg" alt="Image" /> teh server responded with a 404, which is not found, now try clicking on this link http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/5548/dsc05272y.jpg and you still get a 404 error, but now click in the address bar and press enter (I use Chrome), and there is your picture. That is just plain weird, so maybe they are detecting hotlinking I thought, and checked on their help pages:

"Free ImageShack accounts are not allowed to link to direct links. Circumventing ImageShacks ability to enforces it's policies on free accounts and changing linking codes may result in deletion of your content and/or account."

and

"ImageShack allows unlimited bandwidth for videos and slideshows, and allows each hotlinked image 300 megabytes of transfer per hour. If a hotlinked image exceeds this amount, it will become inaccessible, and you would need to send us an email in order to have it enabled again."

The answer?!
