Sprint clutch master cylinder required....

#1 Post by shaunroche »

As the above as mine it turns out is knackered and the club has none.

Can anyone tell me where to get a new one from or someone to refurbish my old one please?

Any of the kit car suppliers can supply these brand new,
you will need an adapter too because the outlet in these is 3/8"UNF, whereas the clutch is 7/16" UNF
and a clevis fork (or use your own push rod if it is still okay).

Car Builder Solutions give a generous discount to TDC members. It is worth getting their (free) catalogue....

Thanks Ian, that's very comprehensive!

Mahesh, has yours got that built in reservoir on it?

I'm thinking of rebuilding mine as I've got a sprintspeed clutch kit fitted......if I get a Rimmer's refurb kit, how difficult is it to take it apart?

Once it's off, the master cylinder is a piece of cake to refurbish, half an hour if you dawdle!

Not me mate, the one I had dealings with at the NEC was your vermillion AUTO!

The only thing that can make the job longer is if the piston is seized in the cylinder from years of standing - which I don't think applies to Shaun's car.

Just take out the circlip and give it a shake if its been in recent use.

If not and the piston is seized in the bore, then a bit of air pressure from a tyre pump usually has them out if they move at all...

Worst case is you give up after a month of soaking in bilt hamber deox. I have a few like that....but they were pretty obviously a waste of time.

If the piston moves it will come out....

The NEC incident Alun is refering too was a duff recuperating seal in the first kit IIRC....we sorted it in the end.

Note from Admin: sadly Jon passed away in February 2018 but his humour and wealth of knowledge will be fondly remembered by all. RIP Jonners.

Brill, cheers Jonners......it does move but I wasn't sure if I had to blow it out or use pressure....will order a kit now.

Cheers once again!
