I believe that there are difference between early and late Sprint cylinder blocks. Can anyone outline what the differences are?

According to a mate of mine, who really ought to know, early sprint blocks have a bit more chrome in the alloy they are cast from. But later castings are the same for both Doly and TR7. The 16v Slant 4 engine is more fun than the 3.5 V8, because you mostly drive it on the upslope of the torque curve.

No, I do mean the blocks. Cast iron is an alloy of iron and, mostly, carbon and sillicon. Was going to come to your defence there but see you've done it yourself....
Bit of Molybdenum goes in too IIRC.
Early ones also have cross drilled cranks - but you all knew that.

Later blocks sprint,tr7 or 1850. Have bigger waterways around the pump and pos slightly bigger oil ways. The best block to use is a late but used 1850 block bored out to 2ltr.
