Which shock absorbers choose?

Hi everyone,
My sprint probably needs to get some new shock absobers and springs, the ones fitted seem pretty stiff, I had a quick look at what's available from rimmers, but prices vary between 290 up to 600 pounds, standard, heavy duty uprated... I have no idea which to choose. Knowing that the aim is to use the car as an everyday car, (no racing or anything like that) what kind of shock absobers should I get? And is rimmers the best place to get them from too?

For a pure road car, i'd go with standard shox and 1" lowered standard poundage springs you're not upsetting the ride quality too badly but still dropping the CofG and improving the roadholding (and the stance, but that's just a bonus) It'll also look better if you elect to fit 185/60 tyres at some point.

I had a sprint which was very nicely set up with 1 inch lowered and 170 lb inch orange springs....

I buy very little from Rimmers myself.

My own car is now on std springs and height but on 185/70 tyres - nice for old man road use and lots of speed humps round here.

I have a brand new set of standard shocks and springs for sale, I bought from Rimmers recently. If you're interested.

Would you say the rimmers shock absorbers are ok? Has anyone had any problem with them (I already struggled with the rimmer exhaut, don't ever want to go through that again )
Couldn t find anywhere else to get shock absorbers from though.

I went for adjustable seat pan shockers (Spax) to be sure I could get the car sitting at the height I wanted
(in my case, 60cm for ground to the centre of the outer arch, all round).

The springs are standard height uprated.

I bought these and one "C"-spanner from Rimmer Bros. You cannot fault their delivery service.
The other C spanner I bought on ebay.

I hear Armstrong shocks are better than the standards rimmer sells and maybe not as expensive as spax,any idea where these could be found, couldn't find them at rimmer ?

During my last telecom with Rimmer's they advised me that there std shocks are manufactured by Armstrong

I think this is a case of some company buying the Armstrong name. Yes, old stock ones will be way better than the "new" versions.
Same as the new "Borg and Beck" clutches, made by Firstline. Proper, decent quality they are not.....
