I noticed that - one of the presenters suggested contacting the Triumph Owners Club for advice before buying a Sprint.

In defence of the Shannons show......it is an Australian show, targeting Australians and the Triumph Sports Owners Association is an Australian organisation...so please don't get too upset with it.
They did say that in order to find a Sprint, "START" looking for one by getting in touch with the Triumph Sports Owners Assoc'n.
If you watched the whole thing, you will have heard that here in Australia we only received 620 Sprints and there's only about 80 left now, so generally, Australians aren't as well versed as you folk in the UK are, with these mighty little cars.
Regarding them overlooking the TDC..... They've probably never even looked for it, due mainly to the few cars there are out here.....and they probably don't even know it exists.
I hope you all survived Xmas OK.
Cheers,
Rob

When I saw that lovely Sprint I wondered if "straylight" (Stu) knew of that car. He maintains a list of surviving Aussie Sprints. I never knew they were only offered in Mimosa.

I just thought it was a pity that not all Aussie Dolly lovers (present company excepted) are aware of the TDC and the knowledge, advice and resources available to keep these cars on the road. However, it was great that they even bothered to make a program about the Sprint when so few survive in Oz. That said, it's a shame to think of all the presumably rust-free Sprints that have been lost over there while we fight our ongoing battle with the tin worm over here.

Oh, we have our tin worm problems too. My nice old Mk1 Zephyr (pic attached) has some.
Cars from coastal areas mostly, but also cars that have lived in strong acid (or is it alkaline) soil areas suffer too.
Most rust free collectable cars seem to come from our inland wheat belt areas.
But, generally, yes, I'm really pleased I've never had to contend with a car that's been imported from the UK (or Canada) and been subjected to salt on the snow.

A friend bought a bargain, numbers matching V12 Jaguar XJS and imported it from Canada. Mechanically the car was brilliant, but it had a double floor, both of which had extensive rust...that had spread everywhere. Enough for him to strip everything from the bad body and install it in a pristine rust free body. Shame about the numbers no longer matching and the huge added expense but at least he had a really good going concern. I remember he was fortunate in that both bodies were the same colour.
Cheers,
Rob

I love Mk1 Zephyrs, and yours is a real beauty. A Great Uncle of mine had one, but I think his was black all over.
