Heater question

On my sprint Ive changed some pipwork to get a more consistent heat (electric pump), however when its on cabin/floor the heat is lovely and toasty but on screen its noticeably cooler. Watching the linkage it appears to move the full distance and is nice to operate. Is there a flap not opening or closing that can cause this? BTW when on screen it has a slight breeze coming from the lower vent- not much but its there.

Cheers

Tony

No help, but I'm going to post a me too, for that is exactly what mine does. Heat on halfway, lovely and warm coming through the footwell vents, move to screen, barely luke warm unless I crank the heat right up, and yet the actual heater unit is really hot to the touch still.

Edit:fat fingers

Ive got spares of most things so far but not a heater unit to see how it works. Tis the weather for a warm screen :)

I seem to have a similar problem with the Carledo, having run 4 years with the fan disconnected (pure laziness and mismatched connectors) I got it sorted a few weeks ago, only to discover that the output to the screen is pitiful though it roasts your feet nicely on interior setting. on screen setting, it's not so much the temperature, which is OK or even good, it's the volume of air pushed through which is poor. But it may have something to do with the fact that I cut off the cable and part of the flap control in the pipe from the fan motor for clearance issues on the engine!

Same here, plenty from the central vent and foot area, hardly anything for the screen.

I had a quick look at the screen vent this morning, but need to take the metal grille off, as the
plastic airflow guides look a bit warped and may need changing.

Have to also look at the central vent, from day one it only points to the rear seat or downwards,
it won't point upwards.

What I tend to do is twist the central vent down so that it blocks the air flow, this directs more up to the screen.

You need to check the plastic moulding hasn't closed up behind the metal grill for the screen vent, they tend to.

Seems a common thing then. I was expecting someone to say do this and this etc as its a known problem :( .
Ill have to strip out the screen vent covers and have a look.

The foam seals are gone in the heater. The do not close fully the lower outlet. Or, the foam seal between the heaterunit and plastic duct is leak.

Yes indeed....

My central vent is closed and i have the same issue. Regarding the foam seals is it a dash out job to get to them? If so it may be why so many cars have the issue :)

Centre vent closed on mine too, though it's a bit stiff. It's not so much the volume of air but the temperature in my case, I suspect that when in screen position the diverter flap is drawing in more outside air directly in rather than via the heater matrix itself. As suggested further up, probably the soft foam seal that sits on the edge of a flap is the culprit, though I've never pulled the heater apart to see for myself, yet.

The answer is yes - dash out and dismantle the heater box - Mine rattled so I obtained another one to see where it was rattling - which I found.

I have manage to obtain a complete heater box which is currently in pieces - as I have stripped it. Now I intend to renew all the foam seal, have the matrix pressure tested and then rebuild it and swap it out with my rattley one.

I have a heater box assembly here you can have FOC Tony. It's been outside for a 'while' but it will show you how it works
