Carpet fitting info

#1 Post by simonhorton »

Hi All,
Just a query , do all the carpets kits now come in a lot of sections

Which part fits first and then what order do the rest fit ??

As I think original ones were different ( one piece up to front of front seats from rear seat )

Many thanks

Very stupid were Triumph when it comes to carpets.
Glue in the cill sections (single piece each side) Then there is a glued in bit that goes under the rear seat front edge,
Then you put in the big rear base and tunnel carpet and fit the seat runners on top. How dim is that. Note the holes at the front which go over the front section studs.
I can never remember how the tunnel carpet is supposed to go - back edge under the main floor section I think.
Then the removeable floor carpets come last.

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the reply and info

I guess the gearbox tunnel carpet goes in place before the l/h and r/h front footwell carpets ??

Kind regards
Simon

Yes it does but I'm not sure if it goes under or over the main rear section.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the reply and info

I think original carpets were one piece from rear seats to just forward of front seats

A lot of firms now make a lot of seperate sections ....

Coverdale are probably the best, the multi section ones you have been describing are cheaper made, just stitched rather than moulded like the originals were and probably from ultra thin mareial.

Is there a company that does one piece rear carpet up to just forward of front seats ?

As most seem to do left/ tunnel / right 3 piece sets ?

Many thanks
