Hi All,
I'm putting the rear brakes back together
Is this the correct way around ?
The pic is the left hand rear assembly
Is the self adjusting lever in the correct position , IE on outside of cylinder , or should it go on the inside
Many thanks

It all looks very wrong to me. Your back plate appears to be on the wrong way round and where's the half shaft?

2 crucial points...
The toothed adjuster wheels are threaded differently for each side. The lever moves the toothed wheel as the handbrake is applied in such a way that the threaded bit moves the shoe outwards. The lever will then click over the wheel when the shoe reaches the drum.
The other thing is there is a small H shaped shim that goes in the square hole in the shoe that the lever
presses against. If this is missing the lever moves too far and cant apply enough pressure for the
handbrake to be effective.

Here you go, tilt your head to the right because the axle is rotated!

Thank you James
So to confirm
ratchet lever on outside of cylinder ( closest to drum )
And wheel cylinder / handbrake lever roughly between 5 and 7 o'clock
IE - at bottom of backplate
Thank you
Simon

The lever should be in the resting position towards the backplate, not towards the drum. As the handbrake lever
moves it has to turn the toothed wheel. If its resting position is toward the drum, as the lever is pulled it will miss the toothed
wheel.
James picture has it right, and shows the shim.
