Triumph 1300 fwd 2nd gear problem

When cold if you don't change into 2nd gear almost immediately you cannot get it in. If you change quickly and drive for 2 or 3 miles you can change in and out of all gears fine.
I've read it could be the synchromesh as telltale signs normally show with 2nd gear issues first?
Any thoughts much appreciated

I had the same problem when I owned a 1300tc. Apparently it's a common fault I improved things by using Dxtron oil in the gear box. Don't know if this helps. Tractor boy
