Front Door Check Strap

#1 Post by AlanH »

Can anyone tell me the best way to remove the front door check strap.

The Haynes manual says to gain access to the inner door and drill out the rivet.

The Unipart manual makes it clear that it is the external retaining rivet.

My feeling is to try to file off the burr at the bottom of the pin.

Sometimes the rivet can be crimped sufficiently to remove without drilling. Or just drill it, it's pretty easy. The bit you're after is not inside the door but located at the hinge end of the door in the door aperture so to speak. You can't miss it.
