Front bumper bracket/irons

Can anyone help me out, many years ago I brought front irons knowing I would use one day. Well that day has arrived, but........they are the same! Should they be? When fitted, 180 degress to each other, one appears to be angled down or up from the other. Rimmer's sell them as left or right 821150. Any thoughts?

Thanks Simon, That does appear to be the case but Rimmer's are selling them as LH or RH that's where I got mine from, I don't know which is left of right and have never managed to post photos but will try.

When fitted, the shorter, straight shank should be inboard and the iron should angle slightly up from the body to the bumper. This should tell you which one you have (2 off) and which one you need. They are definitely handed, but the difference is subtle. Part numbers are 821150 for left hand and 821151 for right hand. Once again someone has got it wrong!

Thanks Steve, your info has helped, along with a call to Rimmer's. I need the right hand one, drivers side, which conviently is NOS. This may explain why Rimmer's sent two the same, according to them you can rotate the incorrect one 180 degrees and it's all good. I don't see how that works given the distances between mounting points is clearly different. Thanks again.

Well obviously you can't RB. As has been said, there is a slight angle to them making them handed.

OK so I thought that I was the only one not getting this, but there seems to be more than a little confussion over these. I also appreciate that this is not the most exciting post in the world but.......The bumper irons do not bend up from body to bumper, can anyone confirm on their car that this is true. I think that if they do on your car then that may be the wrong way round. Based on the belief I had a RH mount as it bent up from body to bumper, I ordered from RB part number 821150 left hand mount. Just arrived and if this is the left hand, when fitted it bends down from body to bumper or the part number is wrong. I now have four LH mounts and definitely need a RH. Unless anyone can shed any more light on this dull subject.....,please.

Hi George, This is actually a very interesting post. Until I looked at my old 1850 bumper I hadn't realised they were handed or that they actually bend downwards from body to bumper.
Here is a piccy.

The old bumper I have a a bit beyond repair chrome wise but the irons still look good.
If you would like the pair all labelled up L.H. / R.H. drop me a P.M. with an address and I'll send them to you, unless you can collect from the Reading area ?
Cheers for now,
Tony.
