At the weekend I got the dreaded clutch pedal go very stiff and then freed off and now goes straight to the floor with no clutch operation, I believe it is the master cylinder at fault , I have a reseal kit at hand but as I only did it a few years back I'm wondering if it's kaput ( I'm pretty sure I have never replaced it as a whole unit and only resealed it ) what options do I have for a replacement as they seem very hard to get hold of, can you use one which has the reservoir on the master cylinder and do away with the remote reservoir ? or are there any other options ?
Just reseal it. Hone the bore with a roll of 1200 grit wet and dry in brake fluid. You could try silicon fluid next time too to stop the cyliders
corroding. Works ok on my p6 which has a common reservoir for both, but do the slave rubbers too. The P6 also uses the same cylinder...
Also check the circlip groove is good. Have had a couple of pedal rods fall out which is not fun...

Note from Admin: sadly Jon passed away in February 2018 but his humour and wealth of knowledge will be fondly remembered by all. RIP Jonners.
After resealing the master and cleaning up the bore with 1200 wet and dry ( was not that bad ) I refitted and found the slave on it's last legs also , there was brake fluid behind the rubber boot, which was not obvious until the boot was moved , I'm gonna get a new slave and reseal the old one and keep as a spare, what's the best place to get a slave, maybe a land rover one

Edit: May I suggest Chris Witor? Everything I've had from him has been good quality so far.
