Re: Flo Flex Bushes
I'm with Tony on this. Get the SuperFlex bushes. Don't bother with anything else. They're the best and well worth the extra they cost.

Hi Tony, how much of a pig are they? I've been considering these myself as they look like they are less than 1/2 the price of SuperFlex for a full set. Are they not worth it at all or is it just that they are time consuming to fit?Tony Burd wrote:Don't bother they are a pig to fit, I gave up and got super flex bushes from Chris Witor
SuperFlex seem to be market leaders on terms of performance and quality but they fall very short on price. TBH I think they are extortionate.
I am looking for an alternative to std bushes but not an alternative price. (Ie I don't want to cough up more than I have to) lol.

Karl, I've removed your duplicate post. Don't begrudge the higher price (I know I would've done a few years back). As with most things in life, you only get what you pay for and that is certainly true of the SuperFlex bushes. I WILL pay that bit more IF the quality and longevity is guaranteed. It works out better in the long run.

Re: Flo Flex Bushes
The steering rack bushes just didn't fit, there is a picture on my resto thread somewhere.
The steel insert tubes for the suspension bushes had not been drilled concentric so had to be sent back.
Most of the suspension bushes are split in two rather than the cotton reel type you get with Superflex, this should make them easier to fit but I found when you fitted the steel insert one half of the bush would move and not fit tightly to the arm.
I bought the whole flo flex kit off eBay, in the end all I used were the subframe mounting bushes which seemed ok.
It's up to you I am sure you could get them to work, but I just didn't like the quality and it was a job I only wanted to do once.

Re: Flo Flex Bushes
Superflex or Polybush seem the best. Polybush do a nice split type in a softer material for the trailing arms. I can't be bothered to debate whether that's a good idea or not but they softer than the normal ones and softer than Superflex. If you're not honing it around and putting excessive load on the trailing arms or mountings these seem like a good fit and forget option.

Re: Flo Flex Bushes
On the MGB bulletin board that I frequent, people are always moaning about the poor quality components we are sold these days, particularly "rubber" components. For example, on my MGB the seal round the fuel filler completely disintegrated inside 3 or 4 years, where the original had lasted forty years. But in some cases we are to blame. We want something for nothing. So don't go for the cheapest item you can find. Pay a little more and get a quality item. It will last longer and if we keep buying quality the cheap makers will drop out of the market. You know it makes sense.
