Battrey Earth Strap 1850

#1 Post by bluetriumphsteve »

Can anyone show me/take a photo of there Battrey to body and engine earth strap. I'd like to know the lenght and where is the correct (factory) position it should be fitted. I'm trying to make one as Rimmer's don't sell them and I've got enough crap laying about to be able to make a half decent one just need to know the route and lengh of it

Cheers

I bought one for my sprint not so long ago part number 520134

http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-520134

on my 1850 it bolts to the inner wing panel and the engine mounting bracket 158826 by one of the bolts into the block

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. Will the above earth strap fit correctly on my Dolly 1500?

No, they are on opposite sides of the car 1850 to 1500. There's a guy on ebay breaking a 1300, the one off that will fit.

If not i can use an universal one...

I have a second hand one surplus to requirements; I'd have to look at it to remind myself of its quality.

On the Sprint conversion I just bought on a earth strap and battery lead, then bolted them to the nearest convenient place on the block and body. It is the only part of the project that has worked 100%, so I don't think the location is that critical.

So long as it can reach the battery...1300/1500 is located on nearside, 1850/Sprint is located on the offside

This is a timely thread for me. I'm in need of a replacement and the one that was sent to me last year (I think!) is also a bit ropey so I may well invest in a new one. I want to eliminate any potential problem areas. If there is an alternative "off the shelf" solution I'd consider it before giving RB my hard-earned.

I search ebay for 'battery earth lead' and one supplier has a good range of fittings, lengths and a choice of red or black, dewsburyautodismantlers.

I'll measure my negative wire over the weekend and I'll see if there's anything available in a local motor factor or (dare I say it) the local Halfords that would fit.
