1500 tubular exhaust manifold

#1 Post by marko »

I'm to build a 1500 exhaust manifold and was wondering What size primaries you'd suggest. The engine has a pretty high lift cam, flowed head and is very shiny and pretty. I've made rover v8 manifolds before and used 1 1/2" pipe and have enough left, is it too big and therefore will slow down the gasses too much? I have all I need to build the manifold so would rather not have to spend out again but will if absolutely necessary.
Input please.

The Spitfire 1500 tubular manifold would be a good place to start. As some of us already know, it can't be used on the Dolomite because it fouls the subframe. It would be useful a a guide for the primaries and would cut out some of the guesswork.

I've found out that with 1 1/2 primaries they'll need to be 11" long before a y connector.
