1850 water pump

#1 Post by AlanH »

I have managed to get the water pump out but the brass cage has stayed put.

It seems to be a very tight fit and not leaking so would it be OK to leave it in place?

If I do need to get it out what are my options? I don't have a slide hammer, the Wiki mentions an extraction tool but the page is empty.

Buy a slide hammer....
Seriously they cost very little and for the amount of use you will get just on the front hub grease caps they
are well worth it.

Funny how 2 small or rings can be so recalcitrant.

The extractor tools cost more and are less effective.

You don't need a slide hammer for front hub grease caps!!!! A tap on the shoulder with a wide bladed screwdriver and they are off straight away!
