1850 exhaust manifold

#1 Post by markas »

Section 30 10 26 of the workshop manual refers to 'packing' between the exhaust manifold and the downpipe flange.
Is there an actual part, should there be metal-to-metal contact or should joint sealant be used as required?
I'm asking as I have a rattle coming from that area which will be investigated further next week.
Thanks in advance.

Manifold is belled and downpipe flared....

If the studs are in good nick brass nuts with a plane and spring washer and a smidge of sealant are all you need.
Tighten til they squeak.

If you want it to last be sure it has the correct gearbox support, or it will last 3 months before blowing again.
