Gutter drain - where is the rain meant to go?

#1 Post by Bumpa »

I'm getting the body ready for repainting (yes, there are some bits to be tidied up  ), and I was looking at the front end of the rain gutter. There seems to be nowhere for the rain that runs down the gutter to exit, other than spilling over the sides and going in between the wing and the apron. I wondered whether it might be an idea to drill a hole in the bottom of the channel, where my arrow is pointing. What do others think?

I think it drains under the wing, in turn draining into the cuttle and then out behind the bulkhead pad. This is basically why they rot, that and they weren't painted very well.
