Courier

#1 Post by NickMorgan »

Can anyone recommend a courier I could use to deliver a lawn mower from one end of the country to the other. I am looking at second hand Hayterettes. They are a rough cut push along petrol mower, so a bit of an awkward shape, but not too heavy.
Thanks.

Only used once, but they successfully shipped a Sprint engine and gearbox (250kg) from Cumnock, Ayrshire to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire for £60.

Past fleet: Triumph 2000, Lancia Beta Coupe, BL Mini Clubman, Austin Metro, Vauxhall Cavalier MK1 & MK2, Renault 18 D, Rover 216 GSI, Honda Accord (most expensive car purchase, hated, made out of magnetic metal as only car I've ever been crashed into...4 times), BMW 318, Golf GTi MK3 16v x 3

Thank you guys. Best price from Shipley so far is £104.
National Pallets is £91.
The mower is worth £100, so I will wait and see if a cheaper price comes in!
I have seen other ones for sale with a delivery price of £44.

Many a happy childhood memory of guiding a motorised Hayter along a white line, though it was on rugby pitch with my dad following behind with the line marker, but I'm not volunteering on delivering yours!

Wonder why that price has gone up so much, a mower doesn't weigh that much, hopefully, someone comes along with a better suggestion soon, maybe try one of space sellers line https://www.truckspace.co.uk/?

Thanks Galileo. I think I will wait until Monday. I received a better price of £63 from Shipley on Friday evening, but I guess that many companies won't look until Monday. I would like to think I could get somewhere below £40 for this. Otherwise I will just have to push it all the way up the road!

I have used ANYVAN.COM. What happens is you put in what you want moved, from where to where, and then various businesses compete for the job. When my Dolly had to be moved from Aberdeen to Troon, I used them. Quotes started coming in at over £400, but as each supplier saw what others were quoting, prices started to tumble. The job was finally done for £210 and it was well done. My picture shows the car being delivered to me on a truck.

ANYVAN only attracted one bid of £104, but Shipley came down to £69, which isn't too bad.
Thanks for your help everyone.
