1969 1300 FWD

#1 Post by 111Robin »

Not so much a restoration, more of a tidy up. This 1300 belonged to a customer of my dad who was a mechanic with his own garage business. He worked on it from 1969 up until the owner stopped driving around ten years ago when she gave the car to him. It sat in the workshop until 2013 when he retired thereafter it just sat outside the house. Throughout its life it has had various corrosion repairs with varying degrees of quality but it was still very sound. Mechanically it's very good, 28k miles and recent brake and suspension overhaul. Chic Doig carried out repairs to the rear arches (inner and outer) and some general tidy up jobs. So now it's almost ready for the road again, looking forward to seeing it back in use again.

Looks very smart.
That is a particularly nice colour combination.

Looks great, nice to see a 1300 in this resto section.
Chic Doig - I guess the car is in Scotland? Would be nice to meet up sometime, I'm in Edinburgh with a tatty but very roadworthy 1850.

That's right, I'm near Stirling. Once it's MOTD I'll hopefully be out and about, it's a long time since it was last on the road.

That is beautiful. My favourite colour combination for the 1300.
With a bit of luck I should be picking up my recently purchased 1300 in about three weeks. Maybe catch up with you somewhere.

Sorry,
Only just seen this. No, the one in the photo is my old 1300TC.
I am hopefully picking up my new 1300 on Saturday. It is Valencia Blue with a black interior. Never been welded, but re-painted last year. I hope it is as good as described and the pictures make it look.
There was a delay as it started to drip oil the day before I was due to pick it up. The seller replaced the seal and gasket on the timing cover only to discover there was a pin hole in the cover itself. I have had to wait until after my holiday before I can go and see it!! It has been a long 4 weeks.
Hopefully it will make the 5-hour drive home this weekend.
